Class Ireland

Reading Books

Remember to share your reading book daily and write a comment in the reading record.  Books will be changed after they have been read twice.  It is important to read the book and then spend time exploring the events and characters.  Ask your child lots of questions about what has happened and encourage them to explore the pictures too.

Welcome to Class Wales! We are the Reception Class at Ancaster Church of England Primary School.  Throughout the year we will be developing our "class identity", by investigating Irish food, language and culture. If you have any experiences or items related to Ireland, remember to bring them in and share your knowledge with your new friends.

Our Class Teacher is Mrs Owen who is currently on maternity leave.  Whilst she is away we have Mrs Glendinning.  She works in our class every day except Tuesday afternoons, when she leaves the classroom to plan new and exciting activities for our class.  Mrs Glendinning loves teaching at Ancaster C of E Primary School, and enjoys supporting each child during their first year at school.  She is eager to find out more about children's hobbies and interests, so that our lessons are really exciting! We regularly use dinosaurs, paint, gardening and messy play to engage us in our topic learning.

Mrs Garriock is our amazing Teaching Assistant. We love working with Mrs Garriock from Monday - Thursday.  Mrs Garriock always takes time to get to know us and makes us feel very settled when trying new activities.  Mrs Garriock leads the class when Mrs Glendinning is planning our lessons.

Teaching Assistant, Miss Heslam supports the class each week in the mornings. She always has a smile waiting for us and delivers exciting small group activities. Mrs Fields will be joining us on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.  We also really appreciate our volunteers who guve up their time to help us enjoy our learning - thank you.

All the adults in our classroom are eager to see us develop and become independent learners!  We have lots of learning opportunities throughout the school day.  We take part in a wide range of Adult Led and Child Led activities. We are extremely proud of our learning environment, which includes a large outdoor area and a well-resourced classroom.

As well as helping the children at our school, Mrs Glendinning and the other staff are always eager to speak to parents about any concerns and worries.  Please catch us on the playground in the mornings if you have any questions, or we can arrange a separate appointment to chat a little more.
