Governors

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this letter finds you all well.

I took on the role of Chair of Governors 18 months ago and I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself to those of you who don’t already know me as a parent.

I’ve lived in Ancaster for just over 15 years, after moving here with my husband Andy in December 2000. Ancaster Church of England Primary School has been part of our lives since our daughter Lucy started school in September 2006 and our son Jack left last July. Both our children have loved their time at Ancaster and have always received the support they needed to achieve their potential.

I became a parent governor in October 2013 because I wanted to give something back to the school, and because I wanted to help make sure that every child in our school was being given the chance to ‘Be the best you can be!’

There have been lots of changes in school since I became a governor – a new Headteacher; a new National Curriculum; an increase in our pupil numbers resulting in our fantastic new classrooms; an outstanding Section 48 inspection and most recently the refurbishment of the library into a new kitchen area for pupils to use. I’m proud to have been a part of the team helping the school to implement these changes and I’m looking forward to the coming year and all it has to offer.

Please feel free to contact me via the school office if you have any questions about the Governing Body and the roles/responsibilities we undertake. One of the areas we are looking to improve is parental awareness; not only of the Governing Body itself, but also of the work we undertake to help support and challenge the school to improve further.

I am delighted to be chairing the Governors and very much look forward to seeing you in and around our lovely village school soon!

Yours sincerely,

Sally McDowall
